👨‍⚕️A Second Chance at Life: Alex’s Journey of Recovery and Renewal

This month, the center celebrated a bittersweet but deeply encouraging moment—the release of one of its own. Alex, who had been with us for nearly 10 months, is officially on his way to a new chapter in life. Having battled through the grip of alcohol and drug addiction, Alex’s story is one of redemption, recovery, and resilience.

For years, Alex had been a shadow of the person he once aspired to be. His promising path in medicine was derailed by addiction, which ultimately led him to the streets. His parents, devastated by his choices, disowned him. But the center gave Alex something that had been missing for a long time: hope and a second chance. Over the course of his stay, he received not just physical care but also emotional and spiritual support to rebuild his life.

In addition to the counseling and recovery programs, Alex also picked up new skills, including carpentry. As a symbol of the personal growth and change he experienced, we gave him a bed, a coffee table, and a stool—items that speak to both his recovery and the practical skills he acquired during his time here.

Today, Alex is not only leaving with a renewed spirit but also with the support of his family. His parents, once distant, have welcomed him back into their lives. Alex is now living with his father in Thika, working in his father’s hotel and butchery. He’s also set his sights on returning to university in September to continue his studies in medicine, a dream he’s determined to fulfill.

What a powerful reminder that no journey is ever too lost, no situation too far gone. Through God’s grace, Alex is proving that restoration is always possible. We give God all the glory for his miraculous transformation.

- Why did the doctor carry a pencil? -

Because he wanted to draw closer to his patients! ✏️
