🥦 Organic Farming: A Step Toward Healthy Living

As some of us may already be aware, we have been nurturing a small garden project at the center. Through earlier updates and pictures shared, you’ve seen how we started turning the soil with the hope of producing our very own fresh vegetables. This effort has been both exciting and challenging, but we are encouraged to see progress taking shape.

One of the greatest tests has been dealing with pests. Our commitment has been to grow vegetables organically, without relying on chemicals, so that the food remains clean and healthy. This choice has not been easy, but it reflects the larger goal of teaching the young men responsibility, patience, and modern practices that are good both for health and the environment.

Organic farming is steadily gaining recognition across Kenya, especially in towns and cities, where people are becoming more aware of what they eat. By training the young men in this area, we are not only providing them with life skills but also preparing them to meet a growing need within the community. It is more than farming—it is education, character building, and future preparation.

The short rainy season gave us a good opportunity to try out the garden, and we managed to grow vegetables that are now being used right here at the center. Though still a small supplement, these fresh harvests are meaningful. They reduce the need to buy from outside and, most importantly, remind the young men of the value of work and the satisfaction of seeing results from their hands.

We look ahead with hope that as this initiative matures, it could one day expand to produce more than enough—perhaps even becoming a source of income while continuing to support healthy meals at the center.

🌱 For now, we celebrate each leaf, each harvest, and each lesson learned, trusting that just as the garden grows, so will the lives of the young men—strong, fruitful, and rooted in God’s grace.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
